PDO Cosmetic Threads

PDO Cosmetic Thread Circle

The Science

For over seventy years Polydioxanone (PDO) has been used throughout the world in orthopedic and pediatric surgeries and more recently in cosmetics for skin rejuvenation, skin tightening and face 'lifting' indications.  PDO is a biodegradable, synthetic, polymer. The popularity of PDO threads can be attributed to the long safety record of Polydioxanone, the ease of insertion of threads, it’s consistent and sustainable results, minor side effects and a very low incidence of complications.  Biodegradation of PDO occurs through a process of hydrolysis over a time period of between four to six months while the aesthetic duration of threading results has been found to last between 18-24 months.
